UK Passport Fees to Increase in April 2025: Online and Postal Applications Affected for Adults and Children

The changes, subject to parliamentary approval, will affect both online and postal applications for adults and children, both domestic and overseas. Online adult applications will increase from £88.50 to £94.50, while children's applications will rise from £57.50 to £61.50. Postal applications will also see a jump, with adult fees going from £100 to £107 and child fees from £69 to £74. The Premium Service for expedited passport issuance will also become more expensive. The Home Office states these adjustments are necessary to ensure the passport system is financially self-sustaining and to cover costs associated with processing applications, providing consular support, and managing UK borders. They emphasize that the government does not profit from these fees. In 2024, 99.7% of standard UK applications were processed within three weeks. Travelers are advised to apply well in advance of their travel plans to avoid any potential delays.
