Edited by: Елена 11

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) is now slated to open in June 2025, a slight delay from the initial April launch. This new airport, a joint venture led by Adani Airport Holdings, aims to alleviate congestion at Mumbai's existing airport and cater to the growing demand for air travel. With a cost of Rs 16,700 crore, the airport will feature two runways and four terminals, eventually handling up to 90 million passengers annually. Test flights are scheduled for April 2025, with IndiGo already conducting validation flights. Several airlines, including Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, plan to relocate their services to the new airport, which is located 22 miles southeast of Mumbai. The airport aims to become a major international transit hub and boost economic growth through an "aero city" development.
