Vietnam Airlines opens direct Hanoi — Ahmedabad route

Edited by: Svitlana Velhush

On 3 November 2026, Vietnam Airlines launches direct flights between Hanoi and Ahmedabad, the capital of the Indian state of Gujarat. Four times a week, an Airbus A321 will cover the distance in under six hours, bypassing the usual layovers in Bangkok, Singapore or Dubai.

The new route will become the airline's fifth Indian destination after Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The total number of flights between Vietnam and India will rise to seven, and the frequency to 25 flights per week in each direction. According to the carrier, India is already among the key markets for Vietnamese tourism.

The schedule is designed for passenger convenience: departure from Hanoi at 17:35 local time, arrival in Ahmedabad at 21:30. The return flight departs at 22:45 and lands in the Vietnamese capital at 4:35 the next day. Flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The launch coincides with a period of growing business and tourism ties between the countries. Gujarat is one of India's most dynamic regions, with developed industry and cultural heritage, while Vietnam attracts Indian travellers not only with its beaches but also with historical routes. The direct flight shortens travel time and makes combined trips more accessible.

To mark the opening, Vietnam Airlines is offering promotional fares: a round-trip ticket from 6,3 million Vietnamese dong including taxes. The offer is valid for bookings made until 31 December 2026 for departures from 3 November. Previously, only low-cost carriers operated on this route; now passengers receive full service with a business class.

The network expansion reflects a steady trend: despite the geographical distance, flows between Southeast Asia and India continue to grow. The direct Hanoi — Ahmedabad route is another step towards closer exchange of people, ideas and experience.
