The first KC Pet Fest took place in Kansas City, USA, where the main stars were not people but their four-legged friends. Guests were treated to water competitions, a costume contest and even speed-eating contests for treats. 🐕

6–7 November 2026 the first KC Pet Fest, a pet festival, took place in Kansas City, Missouri. Despite the cool weather, pet lovers gathered at the American Royal complex to watch unusual competitions, meet the animals and spend the weekend in the company of furry friends.
Dock diving — the main canine attraction
One of the most spectacular events was the DockDogs competition. Dogs ran along a special platform and leapt into the pool, demonstrating jump distance and speed.
The programme included several disciplines: long jumps, high jumps and a speed retrieval of an object from the water.
Unlike ordinary sports competitions, here participants were allowed to rejoice, bark loudly and shake themselves off right after their performance. For true canine athletes, these are perhaps ideal conditions!
A fashion show and gastronomic trials
The organisers also prepared entertainment for those pets who prefer to stay on dry land.
The festival held a costume contest, where four-legged participants could show off their outfits. And for lovers of good food, a speed contest was arranged: dogs were offered peanut butter, while cats received special treats.
In addition, visitors could watch a bird show, learn more about cat behaviour and get acquainted with unusual ways of caring for dogs.
Not only entertainment, but also good deeds
Animals from shelters occupied a special place at the festival. Visitors met dogs, cats, birds and guinea pigs that needed new owners.
The organisers brought together shelters, pet shops and pet care specialists in one venue.
For some animals, the festival could become a chance to find a new home, and for visitors, an opportunity to meet a future four-legged family member.
The festival may get a sequel
The first KC Pet Fest ended on 7 November. The organisers hope to hold the next event as early as spring.
The festival showed that a good celebration does not require inviting celebrities: sometimes a pool, a few dozen energetic dogs and a large quantity of treats are enough.
And if, after such an event, at least a few animals find a loving family, the celebration will become not just fun but truly worthwhile.
