Humans and dogs: we need each other

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The lifespan of dogs has increased by two years since 2015, reaching an average of 12 years in 2025. This is great news for dog lovers everywhere!

Several factors contribute to this increase. These include better veterinary care, high-quality food, and a focus on exercise and mental stimulation.

Owners are also more aware of preventing diseases through vaccinations and deworming. A study in 2025 showed that having a pet can increase life satisfaction, equivalent to a benefit of £70,000 annually.

Recent research also highlights the positive impact of dogs on human health. Interacting with dogs may reduce the risk of dementia in older adults.

A 2023 study found that dog owners aged 65-84 had a 40% lower chance of developing dementia. This emphasizes the strong bond between humans and dogs, promoting both emotional well-being and a longer, healthier life.
