A Connecticut man, Russell Ruff, had a stroke of luck thanks to his cat, Mickey. Mickey's curiosity led to the discovery of a lost Powerball ticket.
The ticket, purchased on June 13, 2025, turned out to be worth $150,000! The winning ticket was found behind a bed while retrieving the cat.
Ruff had selected the numbers 19, 29, 35, 36, and 45, with a Powerball number of 16. This matched four numbers and the Powerball, with the Power Play feature boosting the prize.
Ruff called the discovery "miraculous." This is not the first time a cat has played a role in a lottery win. A similar event happened in Maryland in 2019.
