On June 26, 2025, TikTok hosted its first summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, focusing on digital well-being. The event gathered leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa to discuss online safety, mental health, and digital literacy. The primary objective was to foster a safer and more supportive online environment, especially for young users.

TikTok unveiled new digital well-being tools, including an in-app meditation feature and enhanced safety tools. Furthermore, the company extended its $2.3 million Mental Health Education Fund to encompass organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa. This funding aims to facilitate the development of culturally appropriate mental health content.

The summit showcased the #MentalHealthMatters campaign and introduced new Mental Health Ambassadors. These ambassadors are experts affiliated with the WHO Fides Network. The summit underscored a collaborative initiative between the private sector and governments to advance digital literacy and online safety.
