The Maharashtra government will establish advanced labs in 20 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to modernize technical education, generate employment, and support differently-abled students. This initiative aims to benefit 9,750 young people over four years across major divisions including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati. The Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation has signed MoUs with Shri Shri Rural Development Program Trust, Schneider Electric India Foundation, DeAsra Foundation, and Project Mumbai. These collaborations will enhance vocational training, support micro and small entrepreneurs through capacity-building workshops, and offer inclusive education programs. Electrical workshops at 20 ITIs will be upgraded, and solar technician and industrial automation labs will be established. Selected electrician trainees will receive advanced technology and soft skills training in Bangalore. Project Mumbai will focus on skill development for differently-abled ITI students, including Indian Sign Language-based curriculum and on-the-job training.
