On July 17, 2025, in Juazeiro, Bahia, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Health Minister Alexandre Padilha announced a significant investment to strengthen Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS). The initiative aims to enhance healthcare services and promote women's rights across the country.

The investment plan includes the construction of 46 polyclinics, 800 primary health units (UBS), 130 psychosocial care centers (CAPS), and 400 mobile dental units. Additionally, 10,000 equipment kits will be provided to UBS facilities, and approximately 900 new vehicles will be added to the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) fleet to improve emergency response capabilities.

In a notable legislative move, President Lula signed Law No. 2,291/23, which extends the right to breast reconstruction surgery through SUS. This law ensures that all women who have undergone breast removal procedures have access to reconstructive surgeries, regardless of their circumstances.

The "No More Waiting" program was also highlighted during the announcement. This initiative aims to reduce waiting times for consultations, exams, and surgeries, thereby improving the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services for all citizens.

These measures reflect Brazil's commitment to advancing women's rights and enhancing the quality of healthcare services nationwide. By investing in infrastructure and legislation, the government seeks to empower women and ensure equitable access to essential health services.
