On September 26, 2024, Russian forces launched a series of shelling attacks in the Kherson region of Ukraine, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Prokudin.
The shelling targeted the village of Tomyna Balka, which has been under partial Russian control. Prokudin reported via Telegram that the settlement was hit six times.
In a separate incident near Kharkiv, Russian multiple rocket launchers struck the town of Slatyne, igniting a fire that consumed at least six homes. Local official Vyacheslav Zadorenko indicated that emergency services were on the scene, working to extinguish the blaze and searching for any residents potentially trapped beneath debris.
Kharkiv, situated approximately 30 kilometers from the border, has frequently been subjected to Russian attacks since the onset of the conflict. While Russia maintains that it does not target civilians, the ongoing hostilities have resulted in significant civilian casualties over the past two and a half years.
These developments underscore the continuing volatility in the region and the humanitarian crisis stemming from the conflict.
