Perplexity Launches Internal Knowledge Search for Enterprises

Perplexity has unveiled its new Internal Knowledge Search feature, allowing Pro and Enterprise Pro users to seamlessly search both internal databases and the internet from a single platform. This innovation aims to enhance productivity by enabling users to focus on the most relevant files they upload, rather than sifting through low-value data.

According to Frank te Pas, head of Enterprise product at Perplexity, this targeted approach ensures that users can access only the data that matters most to them. The feature is currently limited to 500 uploaded files for Enterprise Pro users, but there are plans to expand this limit. The platform supports various document formats, including Excel, Word, and PDFs.

CEO Aravind Srinivas emphasized that this integrated research capability will significantly boost productivity across enterprises by consolidating previously separate internal and external research processes. Early access clients, such as Nvidia and Dell, have already utilized this feature for tasks like due diligence and proposal preparation.

In addition to Internal Knowledge Search, Perplexity introduced 'Spaces,' a collaborative tool for teams to share and organize research. This feature allows for customized AI responses based on shared data and ensures control over information access. Notably, files in Spaces are excluded from AI training by default, preserving user privacy.

Future enhancements include integration with third-party databases like Crunchbase and FactSet, further enriching the knowledge base available to users. This strategy positions Perplexity to compete effectively against established RAG platforms like Glean and Elastic, as it continues to attract users away from traditional search engines.
