Lucknow: Muneer Khan, 28, from Lakhimpur Kheri, has developed AI-enabled eyeglasses called VisionPro to assist the visually impaired. The glasses aim to provide users with virtual vision and a better understanding of their surroundings.
"I hope that this invention emerges as a beacon of hope for millions of people to regain light," says Khan, founder of Cadre Technologies Services Limited. He has applied for a patent in India for his invention.
Supported by Columbia University, the glasses will be unveiled at the Techfest at IIT-Bombay on December 16-17. Equipped with advanced technology, VisionPro can help users recognize common objects, identify obstacles, differentiate between medicines and food, and read text aloud.
Khan emphasizes that these glasses are not just spectacles; they rely on AI to interpret the world around users. He aims to enhance navigation in unfamiliar environments, allowing for safer and more efficient movement.
Raised in a humble farming family, Khan's interest in assistive technologies grew during an internship in France. He previously received the Young Scientist Award for developing innovative soil monitoring devices that aid farmers.
