AMIQ EDA Launches AI-Enhanced IDE for Hardware Design

AMIQ EDA, a leader in integrated development environments (IDEs) for hardware design, has announced the release of its latest IDE featuring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The new AI Assistant, integrated into both the DVT Eclipse IDE and DVT IDE for Visual Studio Code, utilizes large language model (LLM) technology to enhance code development.

The AI Assistant allows engineers to generate new code and improve existing code by leveraging LLMs. Users can make requests that incorporate data from the DVT IDE compilation database, thereby increasing the accuracy of the AI's responses. Additionally, the IDE includes features for incremental compilation and coding guideline checks, significantly boosting development efficiency.

The IDE comes with predefined LLM interactions, or blueprints, which can be used directly in the editor or through chat. Users can also create and share their own blueprints within project teams. The AI Assistant supports various popular LLMs, including those from OpenAI and Google AI, as well as proprietary models.

“The capabilities of AI Assistant are natural extensions to our classic IDE features,” said Cristian Amitroaie, CEO of AMIQ EDA. “The integration of LLMs with our existing tools provides users with more options for understanding and debugging code.”

AMIQ EDA will showcase the new IDE at the Design and Verification Conference and Exhibition (DVCon) Europe in Munich, Germany, on October 15-16, 2024. All LLM features are now available for download to users.
