Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southeast Michigan - November 27, 2024

As Thanksgiving approaches, winter weather conditions are being observed across Southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service reports that while chilly temperatures and light winds prevail, the region will remain largely dry through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

However, residents south of I-94 may experience a 20-30% chance of light rain mixed with snow late Wednesday night. Areas such as Lenawee and Monroe counties are expected to receive approximately half an inch of snow, potentially mixed with rain.

Current forecasts suggest that the snowfall will not be significant enough to disrupt traffic; nevertheless, caution is advised as any accumulation can create slippery conditions.

On Thanksgiving Day, flurries may occur until 9 a.m., but these are unlikely to hinder attendance at the 2024 America's Thanksgiving Parade. Temperatures at the start of the parade will range from the low to mid-30s, rising to the upper 30s by its conclusion.

Wind chills are expected to remain mild, ranging from 5-10 mph. Additionally, lake-effect snow showers are anticipated to develop Thursday night into Friday morning, particularly around the I-94 corridor, with the possibility of heavier squalls that could lead to reduced visibility and hazardous road conditions.

The 4Warn weather team will continue to monitor the situation as additional snow showers and cold temperatures are forecasted from Friday through early next week.
