As part of its SEA the Future sustainability initiative, Royal Caribbean International has announced a strategic partnership with MARES Center to restore and protect the coastal ecosystems of Mahahual (Quintana Roo, Mexico).

Supporting Ecosystems and Local Communities

🔹 Royal Caribbean has allocated $50,000 for the restoration of mangroves, coastal dunes, and seagrass meadows, which are essential for marine biodiversity and coral reef health.
🔹 20 hectares of critical habitat will be rehabilitated through hydrological flow restoration and the replanting of native species.
🔹 Local residents will benefit from new job opportunities and active participation in environmental restoration projects.

Environmental Education and Skill Development

The partnership also focuses on educating and empowering local communities:
🔹 Workshops for children on environmental conservation.
🔹 Diving and marine restoration training for women.
🔹 Promotion of eco-tourism initiatives in the region.

Commitment to Sustainability

This collaboration strengthens Royal Caribbean’s 30-year commitment to environmental responsibility and supports its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

When business and environmental conservation work hand in hand, we create a future where nature and people thrive together. 🌿🌊
