Carmona Becomes First Town in Sevilla to Earn 'Flor de Andalucía' Title for Green Spaces

Carmona, a historic town located just 30 kilometers from Seville, has made headlines by becoming the first municipality in the province to receive the prestigious 'Flor de Andalucía' award. This accolade recognizes efforts in promoting, protecting, and enhancing green spaces across Andalusia.

The town, known for its rich architectural heritage dating back to the Neolithic period, has successfully preserved remnants of Roman civilization, making it a monumental site. Its lush green areas, including the Almendral Park, which continuously expands its trees and flower beds, significantly contributed to this recognition.

Visitors to Almendral Park can enjoy scenic pathways and well-maintained picnic areas, while the Paseo del Estatuto serves as a pedestrian boulevard leading to the historic ensemble of Carmona. The area is adorned with trees and small gardens, creating a tranquil environment.

Additionally, the Ciudad de los Niños Park offers a paradise for children, featuring slides, zip lines, and interactive games, alongside a picturesque lake populated by ducks.

Carmona also boasts an environmental route called Cueva de la Batida, which merges cultural heritage with natural beauty. This five-kilometer trail allows hikers to traverse ancient Roman and medieval paths, culminating at the Ermita de San Mateo, while showcasing native flora such as thyme and fennel.

Other notable green spaces contributing to Carmona's recognition include the Puerta de Córdoba, the Alameda, and the Diocleciano Park. Alongside Carmona, several other municipalities in Andalusia have also earned the 'Flor de Andalucía' title, with Málaga leading in the number of awarded towns.
