Rare Ferrari 512 M Set for Auction in Paris, Expected to Fetch €9-12 Million

RM Sotheby's is set to auction a rare Ferrari 512 M on February 4-5 in Paris, a significant piece of automotive history. This particular model is one of only 15 remaining and has a storied past, having competed in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans twice and featured in Steve McQueen's legendary film about the race.

The car, with chassis number 1030, was originally built in 1970 as a 512 S and was sold to the Belgian team Ecurie Francorchamps. After its last race, the chassis returned to Belgium, where it was modified and reclassified as a 512 M.

Following its transformation, the vehicle participated in sports car races at Zandvoort and Watkins Glen, eventually making its way to the UK in 1972, where it achieved several national victories.

With an estimated price tag of €9-12 million, this auction not only highlights the allure of vintage racing cars but also the cultural significance tied to motorsport and cinema.
