Professor Dr. Lütfü Hanoğlu, a neurology expert at Medipol Mega University Hospital, has highlighted the potential benefits of egg consumption on memory enhancement and reducing the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

In a statement from Medipol Health Group, Hanoğlu discussed the relationship between egg consumption and Alzheimer's. He noted that scientific studies on the effects of egg consumption on brain health have been increasing. “Recent research supports the idea that consuming eggs may delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Particularly, the choline found in eggs is an important component that supports memory and cognitive functions,” he stated.

Hanoğlu acknowledged that despite eggs being viewed negatively in the past due to their high cholesterol content, perceptions have changed in recent years. He emphasized that eggs should not only be seen as a food source but also as beneficial for heart and brain health, advocating for their inclusion in a balanced diet.

He advised that foods like eggs should be consumed as part of a nutrition program planned by a dietitian. “Physical exercises should also be included in the diet. Because physical health is a significant factor that directly affects mental health. A balanced diet and physical activity are essential for healthy aging in older individuals,” Hanoğlu concluded.
