Redwire to Develop Spacecraft Design for ESA's ARRAKIHS Mission; China Names Lunar Spacesuit 'Wangyu' and Rover 'Tansuo'

Redwire Space NV, Redwire's Belgian subsidiary, has been selected to lead one of two parallel industry studies for Phase A and B of the Analysis of Resolved Remnants for Accreted Galaxies as a Key Instrument for Halo Surveys (ARRAKIHS) mission for the European Space Agency (ESA). The proposed spacecraft will be based on an enhanced version of Redwire's Hammerhead small satellite platform. If selected, Redwire will manage the satellite's integration at its Belgian facilities. The ARRAKIHS mission aims to shorten the time from conceptualization to data delivery, targeting specific scientific objectives and training young scientists and engineers. Redwire's European operations have four decades of expertise in spacecraft platform development and have been involved in ESA initiatives such as PROBA-1, PROBA-2, and PROBA-V.China's space agency has named its new lunar spacesuit 'Wangyu,' symbolizing expanding space ambitions, and the lunar rover 'Tansuo,' representing the pursuit of the unknown. Chosen from over 9,000 public submissions, these names reflect China's commitment to peaceful space exploration and a shared future for humanity. Prototypes are under development, with a manned lunar mission planned for around 2030. The mission will involve two astronauts exploring the lunar surface for three days using the rover.
