EU Weighs Response to US Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Imports on February 12

Warsaw, February 12 - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland is preparing for the potential impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum imports. The announcement was made before a government meeting.

Tusk stated that he was not surprised by the U.S. decision. Consultations with representatives of all European Union (EU) member states are scheduled for Wednesday to establish a common position on the issue.

Tusk emphasized the importance of avoiding trade and customs wars, citing negative consequences for both producers and consumers. President Trump's announcement specified that the tariffs would apply to steel and aluminum imports regardless of their country of origin.
