Pakistan and China Sign Agreements to Enhance Agricultural and Medical Technology

ISLAMABAD: On December 13, 2024, Pakistan and China formalized a partnership to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) based agricultural machinery aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in Pakistan. This agreement, facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), involves a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Punjab government and China's 'AI Force Tech' company during Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's visit to China.

The initiative seeks to revolutionize Pakistan's agricultural sector through advanced robotic technology, promoting economic growth and improving the livelihoods of farmers. Additionally, the collaboration will provide opportunities for Pakistan to learn from China's expertise in agricultural practices.

In a related development, the Federal Minister for Planning announced plans to dispatch 1,000 agricultural experts to China for training in modern agricultural techniques. This is part of a broader effort to modernize Pakistan's agricultural landscape.

During her visit, CM Maryam Nawaz also signed an MoU with Hygea Medical Technologies to introduce advanced cancer treatment technology in Punjab. This agreement promises to enable cancer treatments that do not require surgery or chemotherapy.

Maryam Nawaz met with Dr. Luo Fuliang, President of Hygea Medical Technologies, who assured support for the development of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. Following this agreement, the hospital is set to utilize cutting-edge machinery and treatment methods in collaboration with Chinese experts.

CM Maryam Nawaz's official visit to China, scheduled from December 8 to 15, includes meetings in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring collaborative opportunities in governance, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure development.
