NASA's Parker Solar Probe, known as the 'Sun Explorer,' has successfully completed the closest approach to the Sun, coming within 6.1 million kilometers of its surface. This milestone marks the closest flight ever undertaken to the star.

According to a statement on NASA's website, signals from the spacecraft were first received on the evening of December 26, following its approach to the Sun's orbit. The operation teams confirmed that NASA's 'Touching the Sun' mission successfully navigated the record-close flyby on December 24.
