AI Tool Enhances Customized Reading for Students in Quebec

An AI-driven website is helping teachers in Quebec generate tailored reading materials for their students, gaining popularity in local schools.

Developed by Oplan, this tool allows educators to save time and aims to boost reading interest among primary-age children.

Teachers can select preferences on the app, and the AI suggests texts based on their choices, accommodating various reading levels and cultural backgrounds, all aligned with the Ministry of Education's criteria.

Dave Tardif, Oplan's Vice President of Education, stated, "It's designed so they no longer have to search endlessly through textbooks and the internet, unsure of text quality." He added, "We trained the AI with the Ministry's criteria to ensure generated texts are relevant to the child's grade level and engaging topics."

Educators can specify word count, difficulty level, themes, and types of reading materials.

Interest in this innovative technology has also emerged from French-speaking schools outside Quebec, with Oplan's tool already in use in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
