Iran Establishes AI Research Centers for Agriculture

Iran is set to establish two research centers focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, according to Dr. Mohsen Mardani, head of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute. The initiative aims to utilize AI algorithms for analysis throughout the agricultural process, from planting to harvesting and supply chain management.

Speaking at an AI in Agriculture event, Dr. Mardani highlighted that over the past 40 years, agricultural production in Iran has increased by more than 400%, with 350% of this growth attributed to enhanced knowledge and productivity.

He emphasized the need to adapt agricultural production methods to changing climate conditions to ensure sustainable food security. Accurate data analysis is essential for predicting future agricultural trends.

Dr. Mardani stated that the institute is focusing on implementing precision agriculture using AI technologies, satellite data, and sensors to obtain precise information at all stages of production.

Over 50 private companies are currently collaborating with the institute, and a new innovation center will soon open to further enhance productivity in agriculture through partnerships with 40 active AI companies.
