Brazil's AGU Integrates AI to Enhance Document Management

The Brazilian Attorney General's Office (AGU) has integrated generative artificial intelligence into its document management processes, enhancing the efficiency of legal and administrative documentation.

Announced on September 24, 2024, during the "Digital Transformation of National Public Advocacy" event, the new AI features, collectively called iAGU, will assist AGU members in creating legal documents, summarizing lengthy texts, and extracting relevant data.

These tools will be accessible through the Super Sapiens system, which aims to expedite workflows and improve the quality of legal services provided by the AGU, which handles approximately 16 million legal actions annually.

The AI functionalities include a generative AI chat for document drafting, an AI assistant within the text editor for summarizing or expanding text, a document classifier for efficient triage, and automated data extraction to streamline the processing of legal documents.

In 2023 alone, the AGU produced 22.5 million legal activities, contributing significantly to public finances with R$ 57.8 billion collected and R$ 64.6 billion saved through judicial agreements.
