India Dominates ISSF Junior Championships in Lima with 13 Gold Medals

The junior Indian shooting squad concluded the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, with a remarkable performance, securing a total of 13 gold medals, 3 silver, and 8 bronze medals. This impressive tally placed India at the top of the medal standings, significantly ahead of Italy, which finished second with 5 golds, and Norway, which ranked third with 4 golds.

On the final day of the championship, India clinched gold in the junior men's 50m pistol team event. The team, comprising Deepak Dalal, Kamaljeet, and Raj Chandra, achieved a combined score of 1616, narrowly defeating Azerbaijan by just one point. In individual events, Mukesh Nelavalli added to his medal collection with a bronze in the same category, scoring 548.

In the junior women's 50m pistol event, Parisha Gupta secured a silver medal with a score of 540, falling short of Hungary's Miriam Jako, who set a junior world record with a score of 546. Furthermore, the Indian women’s team also earned a silver medal in this event, trailing behind Azerbaijan.

Additionally, India captured a bronze in the junior mixed team trap competition, with Shardul Vihan and Sabeera Harris achieving a total score of 138. The ISSF circuit will continue in New Delhi, India, for the prestigious season-ending ISSF World Cup Final in 2024.
