SpaceX's Crew-8 Astronauts Return to Earth After Seven-Month Mission

SpaceX's Crew-8 mission is set to return to Earth on Sunday, October 13, 2024, after seven months aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The Dragon capsule, Endeavour, is scheduled to undock from the ISS at 7:05 a.m. EDT (1105 GMT) and splash down off the coast of Florida no earlier than 3:38 p.m. EDT (1938 GMT) on Monday, October 14.

The Crew-8 team includes NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, along with Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin. They launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on March 3 and arrived at the ISS two days later.

The mission's return was delayed due to Hurricane Milton, which affected the splashdown area. Crew-8 is the eighth operational, long-duration ISS mission conducted by SpaceX for NASA, with Crew-9 having arrived at the station on September 29.

The astronauts will return with significant scientific research findings from their expedition, contributing to ongoing studies in microgravity.
