A severe cold wave is gripping several states in India, with temperatures plummeting to alarming levels. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for extreme cold conditions across northwestern and central regions, predicting these conditions to persist for the next few days.

The minimum temperature in the plains of Rajasthan has dropped to a chilling 1.0 degrees Celsius, with other states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana also experiencing significant drops. Reports indicate that temperatures in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh range between -3 to -5 degrees Celsius.

In the coming days, cold wave warnings have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab until December 15, while Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh will face similar conditions on December 13. Other regions, including Delhi, West Bengal, and Bihar, will experience cold weather until December 14.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is reported in southern states due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Mannar, affecting Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. Rainfall is expected to continue in these areas through mid-December, with heavy showers forecasted for Andhra Pradesh as well.
