Air India has taken a significant step in enhancing its international travel offerings by launching direct flights between Delhi and Newark's Liberty International Airport using its state-of-the-art A350-900 aircraft. This new service not only complements the existing Delhi-New York route but also promises an upgraded travel experience with modern interiors, private suites, and a host of enhanced in-flight amenities.
The A350-900, which commenced operations on January 2, 2025, is designed to cater to the evolving needs of travelers, featuring improved in-flight entertainment, refined catering options, and stylish serviceware. The enthusiasm of the cabin crew is palpable, as they engage passengers with a themed New York City tour, adding an extra layer of excitement to the journey.
With this launch, Air India now operates all non-stop flights between India’s capital and the New York region using its A350 aircraft. This move follows a series of strategic updates to the airline's international route network, set to take effect in 2025. The updates include deploying the airline's best aircraft to key destinations in Southeast Asia and Europe, further enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
Travelers can look forward to optimized flight schedules that offer greater flexibility and seamless connections between North America or Europe and Australia or Southeast Asia via Air India's hubs in Delhi and Mumbai. The airline's growing fleet, which now includes 298 aircraft serving 55 destinations in India and 48 abroad, reflects its commitment to expanding its global footprint.
As Air India continues to evolve, it has ambitious plans to add 100 new planes by 2027, including the integration of Vistara aircraft on popular routes to retain high-paying corporate customers. Despite facing challenges on long-haul international routes, particularly to North America, the airline remains focused on enhancing its service and expanding its reach.
