Young Girl’s Dedication Leads to a New Puppy Friend

A heartwarming story comes from Östersund, Sweden, where nine-year-old Néa Persson has welcomed a small puppy named Ginny into her life. For Néa, Ginny is everything. The puppy joined her family thanks to Néa's dedication to collecting bottle deposits for six years.

It all began when she was just three years old. At that time, she didn’t think about the money; she simply hated seeing trash in nature. Her mother, Kikki Persson, shared, “She collected every piece of litter. But then she realized we could get money for the bottles at the recycling machine, and over time, she focused on the bottles and started saving.”

Néa explained her motivation: “Bottles can harm cows, and dogs could step on them. I didn’t want that.”

For years, she had dreamed of having a small dog. “I saved specifically so I could buy a dog,” she said.

Eventually, she chose a Maltipoo puppy named Ginny. Néa described her new friend: “He is small, and the perfect size for me to walk him alone. We found him just perfect. It was amazing when he could finally come home with us.”

The Maltipoo is a popular hybrid breed, a mix between a Maltese and a Toy Poodle. Known for their cute appearance, they are intelligent, playful, and affectionate. Depending on the breeder, a Maltipoo puppy can cost between €1,500 and €2,500.
