Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Discusses AI and Data Regulations with Google at Apec Summit

LIMA, Nov 15 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim engaged in discussions with Google representatives in Peru, focusing on the development of data centres and artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized the need for robust regulations to prevent data leakage and malicious exploitation.

Following the meeting with Google's global head of government affairs, Karan Bhatia, Anwar instructed relevant ministries to take immediate actions to mitigate risks associated with data management.

Additionally, he participated in a luncheon with business leaders from Apec economies, where he shared Malaysia's trade and investment aspirations and encouraged foreign investment in the country.

Anwar, who also serves as the finance minister, reiterated the government's commitment to transparent policies aimed at enhancing Malaysia's business competitiveness.
