Israel and Hezbollah Agree to Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Tensions in Lebanon; Ukraine Strikes Russian Military Targets with ATACMS

The Israeli security cabinet approved a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah on November 26, 2024, following over two months of open conflict. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, which stated that the ceasefire will take effect on November 27 at 4:00 a.m. local time.

U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the ceasefire, facilitated by the U.S. and France, and expressed gratitude for the involvement in reaching this pact. Both Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized their commitment to ensuring full compliance with the ceasefire.

In a separate development, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Ukrainian forces conducted strikes on military targets in the Kursk region using long-range ATACMS missiles. On November 25, eight missiles were launched at the Kursk-East airfield, with one reportedly hitting the target, resulting in minor injuries to two servicemen and damage to infrastructure.

This followed earlier attacks on November 23, where five ATACMS missiles targeted a S-400 missile division near Lotaevka. The U.S. has acknowledged easing restrictions on Ukraine's use of ATACMS for self-defense, a move highlighted by National Security Council coordinator John Kirby.
