Intense Russian Drone and Missile Attack on Ukraine Results in Multiple Interceptions

On November 13, 2024, Ukrainian defense forces successfully intercepted 37 drones and four missiles during a coordinated attack by Russian military forces. In total, 96 aerial assault vehicles were detected, not including guided bombs dropped on Ukrainian territory.

The Russian military launched various types of missiles, guided bombs, and attack drones throughout the night and morning. The attack targeted regions including Sumy, where two S-300 guided missiles were fired from Russia's Kursk region, alongside two Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from strategic bombers in the Caspian Sea and two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh.

Additionally, 90 drones of the Shahed type and unspecified drones were deployed from areas including Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Oryol. By 10:00 AM, it was confirmed that two Kh-101 cruise missiles, two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, and 37 enemy drones were shot down over Kyiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and Kirovohrad regions.

Among the drones, 47 were lost in various regions of Ukraine, while two exited Ukrainian airspace toward Belarus and Russia. At the time of the report, two drones remained in the Ukrainian airspace.

This marked the first combined missile and drone strike on Kyiv in 73 days. Air defense forces successfully destroyed several cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as approximately ten attack drones near the capital. There were no casualties reported in Kyiv; however, one person was injured in the Brovary district due to a building being destroyed and a fire that was subsequently extinguished.
