Iberdrola Expands EV Charging Network

November 29, 2024, Spain - Iberdrola has increased its public electric vehicle (EV) charging points to 8,100, marking a significant expansion of the largest charging network in the country. Over 25% of these points were installed in 2024 alone.

In addition to the existing infrastructure, nearly 4,000 more charging points are under construction or awaiting administrative approvals, expected to become operational in the coming months. Currently, 27% of the 8,100 points are fast, super-fast, and ultra-fast chargers, allowing for 200 km of range to be added in 5 to 40 minutes, facilitating sustainable travel across Spain.

The network includes chargers over 50 kW, operated in partnership with bp pulse. Iberdrola continues to install an average of 10 charging points daily, reinforcing its commitment to electric mobility, which is crucial for improving air quality and promoting sustainable environments.

All charging points utilize 100% green energy from renewable sources, contributing to climate change mitigation and a transition away from fossil fuels. Users can access the network through Iberdrola's highly-rated public charging app, which provides real-time operational status and allows for reservations and payments.

Iberdrola's electric mobility initiatives also extend to private customers and businesses, surpassing 50,000 total charging points. Domestic charging solutions offer competitive rates, enabling users to travel 1,000 km for just 5 euros.
