Turkey Sees Significant Surge in Electric Vehicle Registrations

Turkey has experienced a remarkable increase in registered electric vehicles, with the number rising to 183,776, marking a 129.6% increase compared to the previous year.

Since the introduction of electric vehicles in 2011, registrations have grown from just 24 to over 80,000 in 2023. The total number of registered cars in Turkey is projected to reach over 16 million in 2024, with electric vehicles making up 1.1% of that total.

The growth in electric vehicles is attributed to the success of Turkey's domestic brand, Togg. Additionally, hybrid vehicle registrations have surged from 33,690 in 2020 to 391,296 recently, reflecting a 1061% increase over five years.

In contrast, the growth of traditional fuel vehicles has been modest, with gasoline cars increasing by 53.3% and diesel cars by 10% over the same period.
