UAE's Federal National Council Advances AI Strategy with New Recommendations

Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) adopted key recommendations to enhance the UAE's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. The council emphasized the need for a unified platform for open data sharing between government and private sectors, aiming to empower entrepreneurs and startups through financing and technical support.

During the meeting, chaired by Speaker Saqr Gobash, attendees stressed the importance of strong public-private partnerships in AI research and development. These collaborations are expected to bolster the UAE's global standing in the AI market and improve service efficiency through AI applications.

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, outlined the three-phase implementation plan for the AI strategy, which began in 2002. The initial phase focuses on attracting and training talent for future AI roles, supported by a specialized training program in partnership with the University of Oxford.

The recommendations also highlight the need to review legislation related to data protection and AI, ensuring a balance between information sharing and privacy. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance the UAE's capabilities and position in the global AI landscape.
