Lunit Partners with Salud Digna to Enhance AI Imaging in Latin America

South Korean AI company Lunit has partnered with Mexican medical network Salud Digna to distribute its AI-based imaging analysis software across over 230 clinical sites in Mexico and Central America.

The agreement includes Lunit's INSIGHT MMG for mammography diagnostics and INSIGHT CXR for chest X-ray analysis, which recently demonstrated superior performance in tuberculosis (TB) detection. In an independent study published in The Lancet Digital Health, INSIGHT CXR achieved the highest accuracy among 12 tested AI-based TB detection products, with 89.9% sensitivity and 67.7% specificity.

This partnership will enable Salud Digna's clinicians to perform faster and more accurate imaging analyses while utilizing an extensive database of deidentified medical images to refine AI algorithms tailored for the Latin American market.

Lunit will also collaborate with Salud Digna on research projects aimed at advancing medical imaging AI to improve healthcare delivery in the region. Salud Digna CEO Juan Carlos Ordoñez stated that the integration of Lunit's AI aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of their imaging services, ultimately benefiting patient care.

In 2022, Lunit became the first software as a medical device (SaMD) company in the Asia Pacific region to obtain CE and UKCA markings for its AI solutions.

According to GlobalData's 2023 AI in Healthcare report, AI platforms in healthcare are projected to reach a global valuation of $18.8 billion by 2027.
