The United Kingdom is experiencing significant travel disruptions due to severe weather conditions, with 169 flood warnings currently issued. The Environment Agency has added 146 new flood warnings in England, raising the total to 166. Major roadways are inundated, leading to cancellations of numerous train services.

In particular, all rail lines between Peterborough and Leicester are shut down, while flooding at Elton and Orston hampers travel between Nottingham and Grantham. Heavy rainfall has also flooded railways connecting Worcester Shrub Hill and Hereford, resulting in further line closures.

Road conditions are perilous as snow and flooding have led to closures in various regions. The M5 motorway is notably affected, and the A1 is experiencing heavy traffic in both directions.

Many schools have been compelled to close on the first day back after the Christmas holidays, with 176 closures reported in the Bradford area alone. In Lancashire and Yorkshire, snowfall has led to additional school closures.

Manchester Airport has reopened its runways after early morning closures due to heavy snowfall, although it cautioned that some flights may still face delays.

In a notable weather record, the UK's Met Office reported that Sunday night was the coldest of the winter thus far, with temperatures plummeting to minus 13.3°C in Loch Glascarnoch, Scotland.
