Severe Weather Forecast in India, October 14, 2024

On October 14, 2024, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather advisory for several regions in India, forecasting a mix of moderate rainfall and temperature fluctuations. In Delhi-NCR, the minimum temperature has dropped to 18.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal average, while the maximum temperature reached 35.1 degrees Celsius. The transition from the monsoon to cooler temperatures has begun, with noticeable evening chill.

In Mumbai, moderate rain was reported in various areas on the evening of October 13, linked to the retreating southwest monsoon. The IMD anticipates further rain accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of the city. A 'yellow alert' has been issued for the districts of Palghar, Thane, Dhule, and Nashik, predicting light rain following thunderstorms.

Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu starting from October 15, with predictions of up to 20 centimeters in some areas. The state government has initiated a helpline, '1913', to assist residents and has encouraged downloading the 'TN Alert' mobile application for updates on the weather conditions.
