Argentina's municipal government, led by Mayor Othar Macharashvili, has enacted Ordinance No. 17.281/2024, which sets annual tax values for 2025. This initiative aims to support retirees and pensioners through exemptions on property taxes, urban hygiene fees, and occupancy rights, alongside discounts on other charges.
Luis Perea, the Secretary of Revenue, stated, "a set of benefits has been established for different segments of the population, with a strong emphasis on providing benefits for retirees and pensioners, as decided by the mayor and the vice mayor."
The measures are designed to alleviate the economic impact on retirees, with Perea noting, "This is a way to cushion the impact of the situation we are facing."
The exemption table includes: a) 100% exemption for those with ordinary income up to $678,528; b) 50% exemption for incomes up to $780,216; c) 30% exemption for incomes up to $835,848; and d) 15% exemption for incomes up to $891,480.
Additionally, exemptions may increase by 100% for applicants with chronic illnesses or those supporting family members with chronic conditions or disabilities. To apply, taxpayers must provide documentation verifying their situation and meet several requirements related to property valuation and income receipts.
Retirees and pensioners can also request a 90% discount on the hourly rate for the SEM (Measured Parking System) either in person or online. The vehicle must belong to the applicant, and the benefit applies to one vehicle per beneficiary.
Regarding driver's license applications, retirees can obtain a license free of charge if they meet specific income criteria. The last week of January remains for taxpayers to receive a 30% discount on various taxes, with a 20% discount available in February.
Payments can be made in cash or through debit and credit cards in installments, with several banks offering interest-free options. Additionally, participants in the benefits will enter a raffle for over 100 prizes in March and April.
