AI Camera System to Secure Schools in Slovakia by 2026

By the end of 2026, approximately 3,000 schools in Slovakia will be equipped with an artificial intelligence camera system aimed at enhancing security. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok announced this initiative following a cabinet meeting where the introduction of the camera system in primary and secondary schools was approved.

The AI cameras will feature advanced face recognition technology and are designed to alleviate the workload of local police departments. The system will also comply with GDPR regulations, ensuring legal adherence, as emphasized by Education Minister Tomáš Drucker.

The government has allocated over 62 million euros for the project, with primary funding sourced from the European Union. This year, cameras will be deployed in three pilot schools to test the system's effectiveness.
