UK and Germany Collaborate on Long-Range Precision Strike Weapon

The UK and Germany are collaborating to develop a long-range precision strike weapon, expected to exceed 2,000 km. This initiative, announced under the Trinity House Agreement, marks a significant step in bilateral defense cooperation. The project aims to enhance NATO's deterrence capability and support national security.

The weapon system is designed to be among the most advanced, bolstering both UK and European defense industries. It is expected to create skilled jobs and stimulate economic growth in both countries. The announcement followed the first Trinity House Defence Ministerial Council in Berlin.

Key discussions also included a joint procurement program for Sting Ray torpedoes for P-8 Poseidon aircraft. Germany will also procure advanced British military bridges, further supporting job creation in the UK. The collaboration highlights the strengthening relationship between the UK and Germany in defense.

Defense Secretary John Healey MP emphasized the positive impact of the Trinity House Agreement on security and the economy. He noted that the partnership is driving growth, creating jobs, and boosting skills. The next meeting of defense ministers will be held in Rome as part of the European Group of Five (E5) Defence Ministers meeting.
