Uss milius Deploys to Middle East Amid Rising Iran Tensions

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The USS Milius, a guided-missile destroyer, has been deployed to the Middle East amid escalating tensions in the region. This move follows Iran's recent test of the Qasim Basir ballistic missile. The deployment is seen as a response to concerns over Iran's nuclear program and regional activities. The USS Milius, equipped with the Aegis missile system, was previously stationed in the Western Pacific. Its relocation is part of a broader shift in U.S. military posture. The Pentagon stated the move is to address potential Iranian military actions if diplomatic efforts regarding its nuclear program fail. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has also ordered the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group to remain in the Eastern Mediterranean. This is to support operations against the Houthi group in Yemen, which receives support from Iran. President Trump has asserted that the U.S. is prepared to consider military options if an agreement to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions is not reached.
