Vladimir Putin has reportedly proposed a ceasefire in Ukraine, freezing the conflict along the current front lines, according to the Financial Times. This proposal is allegedly part of efforts to reach a peace agreement involving Donald Trump.
The Financial Times reports that Putin conveyed this offer during a recent meeting with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg. European sources, however, are skeptical, fearing this concession is a tactic to entice Trump into accepting broader Kremlin demands.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has cast doubt on the accuracy of these reports, advising reliance on primary sources. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials are scheduled to meet with U.S. and European representatives in London to discuss these proposals.
