The bill, backed by the ruling Civil Contract party, received 64 votes in favor, while 7 opposition MPs voted against it. The opposition Hayastan faction abstained from the vote.

The legislation was brought before the National Assembly through the Eurovote civic initiative, which gathered 60,000 signatures, surpassing the necessary 50,000.
