G7 Summit in Charlevoix: Focus on Ukraine, Russia, and Gaza Aid

Edited by: Alla illuny

The G7 foreign ministers convened in Charlevoix for three days, where they reaffirmed their support for Ukraine's territorial integrity amidst Russian aggression. They urged Russia to accept the 30-day truce proposed by Ukraine, threatening further sanctions if refused. While the US called for concessions from both sides, European nations emphasized security guarantees for lasting peace.

The summit also addressed the need for unimpeded humanitarian aid to Gaza and a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, marking a concession from the US administration. Discussions occurred amid tensions over trade disputes initiated by the US. Despite disagreements, the G7 expressed unity, particularly concerning the Ukraine crisis, following Kiev's approval of the US-proposed ceasefire. Vladimir Putin has expressed conditional support for a truce, pending discussions with the US.
