The United States and India aim to reach $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030, following discussions in Washington, D.C. The focus of the partnership includes enhanced cooperation in defense, counterterrorism, energy security, trade, and investment. A roadmap for accelerating AI infrastructure development by the end of the year is planned. Negotiations for a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) will pave the way for new trade and investment opportunities. Key sectors include technology, healthcare, agriculture, and textiles. The BTA is targeted for Fall 2025 to increase market access, reduce trade barriers, and improve supply chain integration. Initiatives to boost U.S. investments in India, especially in renewable energy, defense, infrastructure, and technology, were announced. Cooperation in IT, AI, and 5G infrastructure will also be enhanced.
