International Students Face Uncertainty Despite US Visa Reinstatement After Termination

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

After the U.S. government terminated their legal status, many international students faced significant challenges. Some students lost jobs and were forced to leave the country, fearing detention. Although the government reversed its decision, many students still struggle to rebuild their lives. Those who left the U.S. face uncertainty about returning, as their visas were revoked. Reinstatement is not guaranteed, and some students struggle to re-enroll in school or return to their jobs. The process has caused mental anguish and feelings of vulnerability among affected students. Over 4,700 international students had their permission to study in the U.S. canceled this spring. Students now fear being targeted again, as immigration officials have expanded the grounds for terminating a student's legal status. Some students are now considering leaving the U.S. for other countries.
