Donald Trump stated, "Hopefully Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement this week." He added that both countries could then do good business with the expanding United States of America and make a fortune.
This statement was made on the same day Ukraine and Russia accused each other of continuing attacks. This occurred despite a 36-hour Easter truce announced on Saturday by Vladimir Putin and accepted by Volodymyr Zelensky, who offered to extend it.
The Ukrainian President stated that Russian forces had violated the ceasefire more than 2,000 times since the morning. He noted that they had not carried out any air strikes that day.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian soldiers unsuccessfully attempted to attack Russian positions. These attacks occurred in the Sukha Balka and Bagatyr sectors of the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
Russian authorities also mentioned Ukrainian military actions against the Russian border regions of Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod. They reported that civilians were killed or injured in these actions.
Regarding the ceasefire, which expired at 00:00, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said that Vladimir Putin had not given any order to extend it.
