Trump Nominates Monarez for CDC Director; Ends Housing for Illegal Immigrants; Yemen Attack Chat Leak Probed

Donald Trump nominated Susan Monarez, acting CDC director since January, to permanently lead the agency. Monarez, a researcher with a doctorate in microbiology and immunology, has worked for HHS, the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the National Security Council. The nomination follows the withdrawal of Dave Weldon. Separately, the Trump administration announced it will end taxpayer-funded housing for illegal immigrants, signing a memorandum of understanding between HUD and DHS. This aims to prioritize housing for American citizens. Additionally, the US Congress is investigating a potential security breach where a journalist inadvertently accessed a Signal group chat discussing a planned military strike in Yemen. The chat included Vice President J.D. Vance, Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. The National Security Council is conducting an internal review.
